Staff Bios

Dr. Sharon E. Harris, Ph.D, Executive Director

New York State Licensed Psychologist, Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and  Co-Chair of the Glen Cove SAFE Coalition. Past President of the Glen Cove Interagency Council. Credentialed act as a Substance Abuse Professional under the Department of Transportation to administer the City of Glen Cove Employee Assistance Program.

Laurent Caballero, Bilingual Life Skills Training Facilitator/Outreach Worker

Laurent Caballero provides evidence-based Life Skills Training workshops to parents in the Glen Cove community to help parents strengthen communication with their children and prevent them from using drugs by teaching their children the skills that help them resist the threats of tobacco, drugs, and violence. These tools help parents prepare their children for a successful transition from adolescence to early adulthood. Laurent also provides community based door to door outreach services to families in need of housing, food, clothes, school advocacy and family counseling. Laurent is retired from the Glen Cove School District having worked as a Teacher’s Aide for over 30 years.

Brenda Lopez, Bilingual Life Skills Training Facilitator/Outreach Worker 

Brenda Lopez provides evidence-based bilingual Life Skills Training workshops to adolescents in the Glen Cove community to help  strengthen communication with their parents and prevent them from using drugs by teaching peer resistance skills that help them resist the threats of tobacco, drugs, and violence. These tools help prepare for a successful transition from adolescence to early adulthood.  Brenda also serves as the Youth Leader and Administrative Assistant to the Pastor at Iglesia Ciudad De Refugio and also assists SAFE’s bilingual outreach worker with community needs.

Monica Salinas, Bilingual Life Skills Trainer

Monica Salinas is a bilingual Life Skills trainer for the students enrolled in Glen Cove Elementary and Middle Schools via the Glen Cove Youth Bureau After 3 program located at the Finley Middle School, Landing, and Connolly school.  Life Skills Training is an evidence based alcohol, substance use and violence prevention program that helps youth foster and develop personal self-management skills, general social skills/ self-esteem building and peer resistance skills. Monica is also a Teaching Assistant for the Glen Cove City School district.

Mercedes Mancuello, Office Assistant

Mercedes Mancuello provides office assistance to SAFE Executive Director and staff. She is originally from Paraguay where she worked with children and teenagers as an ESL teacher in school and provided religious instruction to children at church.
