Staff Bios

Dr. Sharon E. Harris, Ph.D, Executive Director

Dr. Sharon E. Harris is a New York State Licensed Psychologist with more than 15 years experience in the field of mental health counseling, drug and alcohol, prevention, intervention, education and treatment.  She also holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling.

Dr. Harris has been the Executive Director of Substance Abuse Free Environment (SAFE), Inc. in Glen Cove, New York since 2000, administering the Court Consultation Center and providing evaluations and referrals to treatment services to the City of Glen Cove mandated defendants.

In addition, she coordinates the City of Glen Cove Employee Assistance Program, assisting City of Glen Cove and Glen Cove Housing Authority employees and their families with personal and work-related problems, as well as monitoring mandated Federal DOT random urinalyses for employees who hold commercial drivers licenses. Dr. Harris serves as the Co-Chair of the Glen Cove PRIDE Project Coalition, which is currently in its 9th year of successful funding from the Drug Free Communities Support Program.

She is also the acting President of the Glen Cove Interagency Council, a collaboration of human service agencies in Glen Cove.  In her private practice, Dr. Harris conducted Forensic Custody Evaluations for Nassau County Court system and psychological evaluations of children and adults.

Michael G. Estabillo, Administrative Assistant to Executive Director

Michael G. Estabillo has been with SAFE for six years as the Administrative Assistant to Executive Director, Dr. Sharon E. Harris.  He provides support to the Executive Director as well as coordinating many of the back office administrative needs of SAFE and its numerous underlying services and programs.

Michael earned his Bachelors degree in Science with a concentration in Social Work and Social Welfare from C.W. Post Long Island University.  Prior to joining SAFE, he was the Administrative Assistant at Guardian Safety Associates, LLC, a private investigations agency.  Michael has also interned at Long Island Gay & Lesbian Youth (LIGALY) and the Coalition Against Child Abuse and Neglect.

Robin Mead, LSW, Program Coordinator

Robin Mead is a Licensed Social Worker in New York State and a member of NASW, the National Association of Social Workers.  She completed her bachelors of Sociology in 1997 from Empire State College and Masters of Social Work from SUNY Stony Brook in 2000. Robin has extensive training and experience in conducting Bereavement Counseling, and holds a certification in Advanced Parenting Training from Adelphi University.

Robin is also certified to conduct Botvin Life Skills Prevention Education for youth and parents.  Since 2001, she has worked for SAFE as a Program Coordinator for the Housing Authority Collaboration as well as coordinating the Life Skills Prevention Program for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant in the Glen Cove Schools.
