BOARD OF DIRECTORS

  • 5 Board members participated in Shed the Med’s Events
  • 4 Board members participated in Red Ribbon Week
  • 6 Board members participated in Coalition Strategic Planning meetings

STAFF

  • 3 staff members received De-Escalation training
  • All staff members received NYS Department of Labor Sexual Harassment Training 
  • Executive Director completed 12 hours of required training to re-certify under the Department of Transportation to act as the City of Glen Cove’s Substance Abuse Professional; Executive Director received the following training: Evaluating Program Outcomes, Cultural Responsiveness, Needs Assessment and Reporting

FUNDING

  • SAFE received continued funding from Community Development Agency for Walk In Program September 2022-August 2023
  • The City of Glen Cove continued funding for “Keeping Glen Cove SAFE” opioid prevention awareness campaign
  • Three NYS OASAS Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grants (SAPT) for Workforce Development, Fiscal and Program Stabilization and Prevention Infrastructure received 

SAFE GLEN COVE COALITION ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2022

  • Community Committee spearheads the implementation of an ordinance to restrict drug paraphernalia retail stores to industrial zones
  • Community Committee members attended NYS Office of Cannabis Management meeting to understand the law and next steps
  • Coalition welcomes new School Committee Chair
  • Bach Harrison Prevention Needs Assessment survey presentation and implementation of 2022 action steps for coalition Committees
  • Coalition members participate in a presentation on NYS Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act
  • SAFE Board Chair/Strategic Planner writes to County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello in support of Legislator Delia DeRiggi- Whitton’s proposed Legislation to include Fentanyl Test Strips (FTS) with all Narcan Kits which are distributed by Nassau County Agencies
